Flying in Romeo Mike as private individuals on a cost-sharing basis

G-BGRM is a privately-owned Piper PA-38 Tomahawk and there are currently no shareholders or ownership equity shares available. However, you can fly in the aircraft as a private individual on a cost-sharing basis. The aircraft cannot be used for training or for commercial air transport operations, but another individual can fly together with the owner during a private flight on a cost-sharing basis. Please get in touch via the Contact page if you are interested in joining us and flying in G-BGRM (subject to the various terms and conditions, including the cost-sharing of flights regulations*).

Aircraft Avionics & Instrumentation and GPS Equipment

The aircraft is equipped with a King NAV/COMM radio and Sigtronics Intercom, VOR/ILS, DME and Mode C transponder and has a charger plug for GPS/ipad. There is also a Bluetooth GPS receiver that can connect wirelessly to up to five compatible devices. There is an option for using an ipad, Android or Mobile Window devices if needed (see Avionics & Instrumentation under The Aircraft menu). This is one of the nicest Tomahawks in the country and although the engine has ~2500 hours and is ‘on condition’, the compressions are fine, it is flying regularly and had its annual inspection and renewed ARC (valid until April 2016) without any issues.

Advantages of flying together with other pilots

You can fly with another pilot (the owner who also has an IMC or IR(R) and night ratings), explore new places, flying further and experiencing different flying conditions and airspace environments, including major airports or smaller airfields. For many newly qualified pilots, it is difficult to move to a more independent level of flying, away from the routine and restrictions of the training school environment after gaining their pilot's licence. Flying together with a more experienced "flying buddy" allows the opportunity to fly longer and more demanding trips in different airpspaces and build skills, expertise and confidence. You can also practice instrument flying skills and ILS approaches, for example, if you have the necessary qualifications. The owner also has an IMC so he can act as a safety pilot if you have an IMC or IR(R) and want to fly with sole reference to instruments, log instrument flying hours and enhance your instrument flying skills; currency and practice are vital if you ever need to apply your instument skills in real IMC conditions or in an emergency. For details of recent and future planned trips and pictures please see the facebook page for Romeo Mike: https://www.facebook.com/gbgrm
